36" x 48" OilS NOW IN AFRICA - I painted “Snow in Africa” after I returned from Burkina Faso in West Africa. Changing climate and severe drought had made water extremely scarce. Villagers walk up to 12 miles to bring back water in buckets carried on their heads.
I was also inspired when working on a documentary about building wells in Africa.
Bringing water to these remote areas was akin to a miracle like purple monkeys playing atop blue elephants, with snow falling in an African desert.
